The Danish Monarchy Today

The Danish Monarchy has existed for over 1000 years and is among the oldest in the world. The Danish Monarchy can be traced back to Gorm the Old (d. 958). The Act of Succession of March 27, 1953 allowed for the possibility of female monarch; that is what enabled Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II to accede to the throne in 1972. You can follow along with the Danish Monarchy Today, learn about the history & royal symbols, follow the royal lineage, review HM The Queen’s New Year’s Addresses and learn about State Visits at www.kongehuset.dk (in English, Danish and French).
