The Danish fashion brand Fonnesbech Fall/ Winter 15 Collection was the opening show for this season’s Fashion Week in Copenhagen, Denmark on January 28, 2015. Nina Miller Sanchez reports on Fonnesbech for The Danish Pioneer Newspaper.

The Danish fashion brand Fonnesbech has come from a long history of fashion dating back to 1847.

A merchant named Anders Fonnesbech opened a small boutique at Ostergade 47 in Copenhagen selling ribbons and garter belts made from the highest quality materials.

Anders’ son became co-owner of the family  business in 1847 and created exclusive clothing for women. They began to import through some of the most famous labels such as Lanvin and Christian Dior just to name a few.

The business kept growing and by the time the 1930s hit Fonnesbech became an exclusive department store in Copenhagen until the 1960s.

They had become well known for importing luxurious brands like Lanvin, Sciaparelli, and Christian Dior.

Times began to change and in the 1970s Fonnesbech decided to change direction to fit the economic possibilities of the future.

Now Fonnesbech is keeping the tradition of high quality and sustainability by showcasing smaller collections that offer flexibility and functionality.

Fonnesbech incorporates six major principles from the Code of Conduct which are human rights, labor standards, heath and safety, environment, anti-corruption and ethical relations.

These principles were developed by the United Nations to keep an agreement between companies that are working together to agree and follow the United Nations Global Compact which is a policy for businesses that are committed to keeping up with universally accepted principals and respecting human rights.

This Autumn/Winter 15 collection had the usual flowy and sophisticated style that has been consistent with the brand through and through.

The collection contained light blue, camel with black trim, bluish grey, soft purple, vixen red, light peach shiny silks and let’s not forget to mention the finale of the show which presented the gorgeous combination of burnt orange curvy patches incorporated into slimming black base on the tops and dresses.

And please don’t forget to focus on the A-line skirt with the peek-a-boo orange lining.
