Danish clothing designer Laerke Skyum Blichfeldt and Peruvian business woman Adriana Cachay Anardo came together and teamed up to produce AYNI CPH and are making great choices for the environment.

AYNI CPH was founded in 2006 and in 2009 AYNI Design Lab was introduced into the brand.

Ayni CPH is not only a fashion brand, they are representatives for the Peruvian government in the Scandinavian market. They are using their knowledge and experience to encourage other companies and factories to become more responsible in their supply management which makes them a very sustainable company and an important part of the evolution in the fashion industry.  They also provide sourcing for manufactures and work closely with groups of artisans, workshops and industrial factories.

The brand specializes in knitwear and jersey and uses specific knitting techniques while blending a number of natural fibers including silk and bamboo.

Laerke says, “We are based in Peru but all the designs are very Scandinavian as I am Danish in origin and everything is produced in Peru with local communities. Everything is made of natural materials, basically alpaca and pima cotton, and also certain items of leather and stones from the mines in Peru so everything is definitely made with communities following the principles of fair trade and commercial sustainability.”

Ayni means  “today for you, tomorrow for me” in the old inca language. The inspiration for this season’s Fall/Winter13 collection was inspired by old asian pre-inca culture.

The pieces were described by Laerke as edgy, sophisticated designs with quality textures and are meant to transition from daywear into nightwear.
